marry me? marry me not?
I had no idea planning a wedding was this crazy

i couldn't get to sleep so i figured i could do with a little lot of snooping around malay weddings.
basically, i wanted to find out

  1. costs of the entire wedding (approx)
  2. alternative venue apart from void decks
  3. if pre marriage course is compulsory 
  4. possibly breakdown of costs
  5. what the hell do i want for my wedding

Am i getting married? maybe la. entah. you just gotta stick around eh? 


i managed to find a breakdown of cost totalling to about 30k.
alamak bro. boleh demam dengar. 


pretty much, the list is something like this

  1. Marriage prep course
  2. ROMM fee
  3. Solemnization fees (kadi)
  4. Maskahwin (cash/jewellery)
  5. Hantaran (dowry)
  6. Hantaran gifts (dulang)
  7. Wedding Bands
  8. Location rental
  9. Food and kendarat
  10. Decor/Dais (for location)
  11. Invites
  12. Favours/Berkat
  13. Entertainment/DJ/Kompang etc
  14. Photography
  15. Videography
  16. Outifts
  17. Bridal Bouquet
  18. Make up artist
  19. Wedding cake
  20. Car rental
this list doesnt even include a lot of other miscellaneous stuff like pre wedding spa, outfits for bridesmaid/groomsmen, photo booth, outfit for family (if any), additional transportation. what if u want pre wedding shoot or extra stuff. havent started talks about signing up for BTO and honeymoon and starting a family. habis.

with that being said, i'm not implying its un-achievable.but to really spend an exorbitant amount of money. imagine what a mosque/orphanage could do with 30k. or how many hungry people that could feed. or how many people we can shelter for a couple of nights. how many blankets we can buy.

 

i guess it might be cheaper to get packages. so bride to be (BTB) and groom to be (GTB) just has to snoop around all the time for good deals.

I've always wanted a simple cosy wedding. but if my parent (or in laws for that matter) want to invite the whole kampung. how am i to negotiate right? if pick and choose wrong person and they curse my marriage how? hahahaha, i meant, of course you want blessings. :P


Maybe, for now, i can start with deciding what i what for the wedding. 
themes and etc. I've heard lots of people say pinterest is the way to go! using pictures to relate your ideas/themes is easier when conveying although please pin your hopes accordingly (pun fully intended). deco has to befit location and more details means more moolah. you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. some things are just not worth scrimping over so make wise choices.




if i'm gg to be a bride, i'll definitely be hard to please. no?
i've been working at weddings quite a bit recently and i never fail to nitpick at everything something
i'm annoyed at small details like

  • when chair covers/drapes are not ironed  and it looks fucking terrible like they just rolled out of bed and appeared at your wedding.
  • lack of fans/ventilation
  • lack of space for movement you mean people don't plan for traffic flow meh?
  • when i have no freaking idea where the hosts are (parents of bride and groom) some even put the berkat table in the middle of the wedding. like seriously?
  • WHEN SOMEBODY STARTS SINGING AND THEY SOUND TERRIBLE
  • outfits that dont look comfortable for movement of any kinds plus if they look o.O
one of the more terrible things ive seen is the way this decor company, the way they stapled the cloth to the table was just really distasteful. like really bad. i wanted to rip it off so bad so the table will look nicer.



with that, i shall conclude today's rant and hopefully be less bitchy when im planning my own wedding so as not to give the world a hard time.and myself probably.
